Most of Fridman's guests are notorious in some way, either due to their wealth, power, ideas or behavior. His interviews are casual and candid but typically pretty softball, which probably explains why dictators and billionaires keep coming on his show.

Fridman often expresses that being generous and kind to his guests, no matter who they are is a core value... I think he does hold this value, but sometimes it serves as a way to preemtively deflect criticism about the way he cozies up with dangerous characters and bad actors.

That said, his show can sometimes be of interest because his most notorious guests don't let their hair down anywhere else.

The show is not where I go for reliable information, but it's earned a place on my subscribe list. Fridman's disarming demeanor often results in his guests letting things slip. Plus, Fridman is an excellent weather vane for feeling the winds of culture, particularly the culture of young men in the country. That's important, because that culture is highly influential these days.
